This time not about software development but still about software :)
How to use GTalk (or other IM) on iPhone or iPod Touch?
I haven’t found a good answer for this question (and the one I’ve found wasn’t correct) so I did my own research.
In my opinion, the best answer for now is meebo.
All you’ve got to do is open http://www.meebo.com on your iPhone and log into the service you need. Supported services are: Google Talk, Yahoo, MSN, AIM, ICQ and Jabber (please, please meebo consider adding Gadu-Gadu support). You don’t even have to sign up for a meebo account (then meebo works as a middleware) - but if you do, you can log into few services at once (I haven’t tried that on iPhone).
Meebo looks nice (not only the iPhone version), it’s easy to use and the interface is transalted to many languages (even Polish - nice touch). The idea of having all of my IM accounts in one place and using them in a browser wherever I am seems great.
Meebo doesn’t support Gadu-Gadu (Polish IM) but if you need it on iPhone just add i.myapple.pl to sources in the Installer and install an app named mGadu (group name is Polskie dodatki). You can read more about mGadu here (Polish only) iPhoneLog.pl
Of course meebo isn’t for you if you’re a privacy freak. If you’re not - just enjoy your IM :)
